Inline Lever/Lever

A lever or lever door handle is a modern handle that can be used on new or replacement doors. This style of door handle is available in a variety of designs and finishes. A number of manufacturers offer this handle, including Avocet ERA, Fullex, Hoppe, Mila, Millenco & Yale.

Lever Pad

The lever pad upvc handle differs from the lever handles that are commonly found on doors. These handles can use a single spindle (inline) or independently from each side by using two offset or inline spindles (pad). They are typically used on UPVC double glazed doors and come in many variations & finishes.

Cylinder locks are usually used on uPVC doors, but can also be used on other types of doors. They operate by using a key that unlock a cylinder case that is then revealed with pins that can be aligned with the pins inside the lock body, permitting them to turn the cam, thereby opening the door. Euro Cylinders can be fitted with up to six pins with internal and external doors usually needing different levels of security.

Selecting the right cylinder for your needs is essential; it is contingent on how your door and handle are utilized. For instance, exterior doors require a more secure cylinder while doors inside can be secured using the standard cylinder. Certain cylinders come with extra features that can increase security, such as anti-drill or anti bump properties.

To ensure that the euro cylinder is the correct size for your door, it should be measured accurately. The cylinder should be measured from the central fixing screw hole to each end of the cylinder including the thumb turn if you have one. It is best to do this with the lock in place however, if this is not possible, you can remove it to measure. A cylinder that protrudes beyond the handle and escutcheon might be vulnerable to attacks such as snapping locks, so it is essential to make sure it's not too long.

Most newer cylinders have been designed with anti-drill and bump resistance features built into their design. These are designed to reduce the chance of a attack by forcing the cylinder rotate in an opposite direction. This can help prevent attacks and keep your doors safe.

Some cylinders are designed to resist snapping. This is a common occurrence on cylinders. A specific tool is used to break the lock's break line and then the front of cylinder is snapped off. This is a much faster and more convenient method of gaining access than using a multipoint locking system. It also leaves less evidence of the burglary which could make it difficult to prove insurance claims.

Spring Cassette

The spring cassette is situated within the base plate of the door handle. It provides a sprung solution to help return the multipoint lock handles to their original position after using. The handles had no spring and would drop when the locking mechanism was disengaged. This component is the best way to solve this issue. It also stops your door from getting stuck in the open or closed position, as they are difficult to close manually.

These spring cassettes are specifically designed to be used with sprung multipoint locks, they will not fit unsprung multipoint handles and you will require a custom hole cut into your backplate to allow these to fit (please look at the image for a technical diagram). These cassettes are a solution to damaged or missing cassettes that are in the backplate of uPVC door handles. They have an elongated square that can accommodate an 8mm spindle, and are sold as a set.

These spring cassettes are an excellent value solution to the problem of door handles that have become sagging.
