3 Wheeler Buggies

A three-wheel buggy is great for off-roading providing the most comfortable ride for your baby. They can also be easier to push and maneuver than a four-wheel buggy, particularly those with fabric sling seats or modular seat units that are placed perfectly within the frame, providing the best geometry and weight distribution.

Stability

A three-wheeled buggy offers excellent stability, which is why it's a good option for off-road walks (especially with an all terrain or off-road style seat). It's important to remember that 3-wheel buggies have a lower center of gravity than 4-wheeled versions and, therefore, could fall more easily. Weight

If you're looking for a buggy that can handle the tough terrain, you need one with large wheels. They are also ideal for jogging, as they come with built-in suspension and are easy enough to climb up and down kerbs. However, the trade off is that they can be quite heavy to push.

Fabric slings are placed within the frame and not on top as modular seats. This design provides an lower centre of gravity at the perfect height, instantly making it easier to push and lighter to pop the kerb (you can never think about how often you'll be doing that as new parents!)

Seating

There are a variety of alternatives for seating options in 3 wheel reversible stroller wheelers. The included carrycot plus is ideal for a baby (which MFM reviewer Alice describes as a cozy and comfortable lying-flat bed that can be used on and off the buggy). Older infants and toddlers will appreciate the spacious and padded seat with adjustable ventilation. It is important to note that the seats don't recline fully however they can be adjusted to the lowest level which will give your child plenty of headroom and room to move around.

A sling seat made of cloth is also available. It has the advantage of being positioned snugly inside the frame rather than sitting on top as the modular seat. This delivers a much lower centre of gravity and perfect weight distribution. This makes it easier to push, especially on bumpy terrain or over curbs. MFM reviewer Kath liked the way this kind of seat dealt with the obstacles.

In addition to a large shopping basket, this type of buggy usually has very useful features like an extended 50+ UV hood, an easy to use brake pedal, and some games-changing visibility lights that come up from the handlebar and can be placed in front of the passengers to ensure their safety when tackling tricky terrain.

Storage

The 3 wheel jogger-wheeled frame makes the buggy much more stable to push with one hand and also perfect for handling terrain that is difficult to navigate. However, it means that the shopping basket doesn't hold as much as a 4-wheeler buggy.

A top-quality ATP will feature pneumatic tyres, a cushioned grip for comfort and excellent suspension. It should also be able to take car seats and a carrycot so you can use it right from the time you are born.

MFM's reviewers have discovered that the 3 wheel stroller for newborn-wheeler frame can't fit through all the doors in their homes, or small car boot - be sure you check the dimensions of the buggy when it's folded before purchasing in case you're concerned about space.

It's worth considering a 3-wheeler that can take two (or even 3 wheel all terrain pushchair!) This is the most suitable option for your child's future and will save you money. The iCandy strawberry sport is one of the most popular and can be used as a single seat from day dot and then converts to twin buggies when your baby starts walking.

Tyres

These tyres absorb bumps and uneven surfaces to make your child's ride more enjoyable. They are commonly found on pushchairs such as the Phil & Ted's Sport which MFM reviewer Kath found to offer "an outstanding ride for my toddler". She also said that its grippy tyres made it easy to tackle cobbles and kerbs.

They can be difficult to maintain and must be topped up frequently. These tyres are more susceptible to punctures, which is why it is recommended to always carry a repair kit and spare inner tube with you when you're out and out and about.

PU tyres can be used on pushchairs since they are less expensive than air-filled tyres but are equally durable. PU tyres are easily identified by their matte finish and soft feel. They also slide across smooth and tidy surfaces.

If you run your hand over the tyres you can tell if they are PU or rubber. If it feels as if it's sliding, then it's a PU. You can also verify that your buggy has PU tyres by sliding the tyres on an even, clean surface - they'll be able to roll easily and should fit snugly in their wheel hubs.

Foam tyres can handle the rough terrain of high-performance buggies. The downside is that the foam can compress and make your buggy feel less stable, since it loses its springy nature. The tyres can also be noisy, as they make lots of noise when you turn and navigate around town.
